Our Commitment
Be Ready LA is committed to publishing accurate, practical information that helps Los Angeles residents prepare for emergencies. We prioritize clarity, reliability, and alignment with official guidance from credible authorities.
Verification Process
Each article is researched using primary sources whenever available, including local, state, and federal agencies; established nonprofits; peer-reviewed research; and reputable industry standards. We cross-verify critical statements, statistics, and safety procedures against at least two independent sources when feasible. Before publication, content is reviewed for factual accuracy, local relevance, and plain-language clarity.
Corrections & Updates
Preparedness guidance evolves. When new information emerges or we identify an error, we correct the content promptly and, where appropriate, add a dated editor’s note describing the change. We periodically review core guides—especially Emergency Checklists, Neighborhood Plans, and Wildfire Safety pages—to ensure they reflect current best practices.
Editorial Independence
Our fact-checking and editorial decisions are independent of advertisers and sponsors. Sponsorship does not influence which topics we cover or the conclusions we publish.
Reader Feedback
We welcome tips, corrections, and local insights. If you spot an error or have a source we should consider, email us at editors@bereadyla.org with the page URL, the statement in question, and any supporting evidence. We review all credible submissions and respond when a change is made.
Why It Matters
In emergencies, accuracy saves time and can protect lives. Rigorous fact-checking ensures our readers can trust Be Ready LA to deliver reliable, actionable guidance that supports safer neighborhoods and a more resilient Los Angeles.
